Groundbreaking Ceremony Launches the 50 MW Astra Farm Solar PV Project

Official groundbreaking for the Astra Farm 50 MW Solar PV Project held in the Omaheke Region, attended by Deputy Minister Gaudentia Kröhne, TerraWatt CEO Alex Neils, and Trinitas Consulting Engineers.

Trinitas Consulting Engineers joined national representatives and project partners for the official groundbreaking of the 50 MW Astra Farm Solar PV Project, marking an important milestone in Namibia’s ongoing transition to renewable energy.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister Gaudentia Kröhne of the Ministry of Industrialisation, Mines and Energy, who reaffirmed government’s commitment to expanding clean-energy infrastructure and supporting investments that strengthen Namibia’s energy resilience.

Mr. Alex Neils, CEO of TerraWatt Netherlands, also addressed attendees, emphasizing the value of international collaboration and TerraWatt Namibia’s dedication to contributing to sustainable development in the region. His remarks highlighted the project’s significance as a long-term energy investment built on cooperation between local and international partners.

Representing Trinitas Consulting Engineers, Director Rhys Mbala provided a technical overview of the project and reiterated Trinitas’ role as both Engineering Lead within the EPC framework and Project Manager. He noted that Trinitas remains committed to delivering engineering excellence grounded in the firm’s values of fortitude, sustainability and humility.

The event concluded with a symbolic ground-turning, where dignitaries and project representatives jointly broke ground to officially mark the start of construction. The moment reflected a unified effort geared towards expanding renewable-energy capacity and supporting economic growth within the Omaheke Region.
